i admit it, i love wine! just a glass of this fine liquid can make my day, and night of course. nowadays in Athens you can find a lot of descent wine bar restaurants. they all offer a wide range of domestic and international wine labels accompanied by a short menu of “wine appropriate” delicacies. but there is a place with a vibe of its own. “by the glass” is located inside a charming roofed passage in the center of the city. there you will enjoy the exquisite indoor and outdoor sitting, the warm cosy atmosphere and the jazzy sounds! you will choose from a wine list of 250 labels and you will taste some fine dishes. i personally enjoyed some juicy grilled burgers, a silky mushroom risotto, an intense wild boar and some small but tasteful burgers with chèvre goat cheese. a week ago, “by the glass” turned two and hosted a fun birthday party. so except the wine and the delicious dishes i usually enjoy i also had some cake! yeah! Fotini, the owner, and the staff did an excellent job welcoming and amusing their guests/friends. so raise your glasses my friends and ask to fill it with some rare magnums and vintage grape varieties.
